First Reaction: Yuri on Ice!

Do you want the short version or the long one, because if you want the short one, go watch the show. It has amazing animation, (actually absolutely gorgeous) funny and interesting characters, a cast of completely wonderful characters, and it's only been 3 episodes. Not to mention (praying for it) the budding romantic relationship between Victor and Yuuri. 

So in short, go watch the show.

Yuri on Ice!!! is the much anticipated 2016 fall anime season show about famous ice skaters competing against each other and frankly, is better off being called Yaoi on Ice!!!. The show begins with one of our main characters failing the national Grand Prix Finals - Senior Competition or something. He fails miserably, and his name is Yuuri Katsuki. Depressed, he goes home. A year later he performs his idols routine, Victor Nikiforov, for a friend and accidentally goes viral. Unbelievably to Yuuri, he inspired his idol to come be his coach. This leads to another Yuri, Yuri Plistesky, to come and chance after Victor who made him a promise. 

That's the general information for the first episode-ish. Currently there are 3 episodes aired and it's already got licensed by FUNimation. And even more for the surprise, just like Kotesujo, it's an original anime with no source material written by Mitsuro Kubo and Sayo Yamamoto. I find that to be quite amazing since we did get the beautifully animated and sounding show Kotesujo only 2 seasons ago. 

Besides that though, this show has been nothing but entertaining and gorgeous. At first I was a bit worried with the animation seeing as it's a figure skating anime, the animation would either need to be really good, they use CGI or they just don't add in enough figure skating scenes. (*Cough**Cough*  K-ON!) This fear was quelled very early on in the first episode. The animation is absolutely gorgeous. I mean look at this!!

And this is just a taste!! This isn't even close to the best they have to offer!

The art is crisp and it movements are so fluid in everything. The hair is flowing, the body movements are so natural, even when they're not skating is so smooth and realistic. The only thing that could be lack luster compared to this level of animation is the background, and that's only in certain scenes. But enough of my gushing.... okay not yet.

But enough, enough, enough about animation. You'll just have to see it for yourself, and boy do I suggest sticking around for episode 3. Ooooo goodness. You won't regret it. I almost cried during Agape. 

Speaking of episode 3, back to the story. It's riveting. Well, it's not drop dead amazing, but it's very well thought out. I can't compare it to any other sports anime other than the first 8 episodes of Kuroko, but from what I can see it's different from the usual. In simple terms, the story is about a really good Japanese skater finding the confidence and motivation to make it back to the finals and win this time for his coach. I feel as if the characters will change from this course of action as the show continues though. They keep mentioning about how young these characters are, and what they'll do after they retire from skating. Not to mention the characters improving as people with the help of experimenting and improving their ice skating skills.

Yuri Plisetsky

Even from right now I can tell the show is going to be very character driven. So far that's plenty. The main three characters are interesting and sexually confusing. The only other characters that have gotten some screen time other than these three are the childhood friend that owns the skating rink, her three ice skating obsessed triplet daughters, and Yuri's old ballet instructor. There are very apparent background characters that I doubt will get any serious time, but only time will tell. Not to mention there are plenty more characters to come. Not to mention in 3 episodes I've already become emotionally attached to these adorable characters.

The opening is sung in a fairly understandable English with a pretty opening sequence of Yuri, Yuri and Victor skating together. Background scenes are in the background with splashes of paint that represents the colors of the characters. It fits the show really well in my opinion, exemplifying the characters drives to make a mark on their audience and on the world. The ending utilizes modern times with a scrolling tweets and pictures. Yuri, Yuri and Victor are playing with fireworks too, and the ending theme is more playful and showcases their relationship with each other more than anything.

Victor Nikiforov

Since this isn't long enough and I just have to mention, the engrish in this anime is pretty much non-existant. The seiyuus stepped up for this show and even have Russian thrown in along with the very well acted characters.

So if you bothered to read all of this, then you have to go watch it now. And also hi! I'm back!! 

(And adding this in, really hoping for a gay relationship that isn't full blown Junjou or Love Stage! and more like No. 6 with a bit better plot)

I'm Saying Goodbye for Now

Well, it's been almost 4 years since I've had this blog and I think I'm done now.

With school and everything, it's always been kind of hard keeping this up to this point, especially in the past 2 years. At first it was just a stupid blog I did because a character from a manga was doing it and I thought, hey I could be like them. (The weeb dark days.....)

But eventually, as the friends that I had stopped reading it and I got even more and more into anime, it slowly became an anime/manga blog and I've kept at it for way longer than I ever expected and way longer than any of my original friends. I know that a lot of people really don't read this, but there are some who do. I've actually gotten some comments from real live people the past year. I assume that if I kept doing it, it might even have become more popular.

I may come back to it one day. Or even just still have it and just sporadically post to do rants or reviews of shows that I really love, and just want to share my opinion for those out there who are looking for a good show to watch or to those who just want to find someone to share their enthusiasm about the show with, or anticipation.

Another reason that I'm stopping this blog is, weirdly enough, I think my writing has gotten worse. I usually proofread my posts only once before I send them out. At the time, they make sense, until months later I go back and read them and realize that they either sound immature, biased, just badly written, or are have major grammar issues. That's definitely not what I want to put out there and definitely not what I want my personal writing to be like.

And thus, I'm stopping. In short to those who just stumble upon my blog and skim it, I'll put a short answer here.

This blog is on extended and possibly permanent hiatus. Thank you and goodbye for now.

Sekko Boys Episode 1 & 2 Reaction

So for this series I'm not really sure if could be called a whole series or not because each episode is only 7 minutes or so. I'll tell you right now though, I don't really like that. At least not for this show. It can be done right (not Pupa) for example it was done really well in She and Her Cat, and short series that I just recently finished.

For this show though...

I guess I'll start with a brief summary of the first episode I watched.

Miki Ishimoto is a recent college graduate of art school and just got a job as a manager of a new upcoming boy band. As an art school student she had to draw a lot of busts, statues, and more busts. She can't stand them. Looking forward to her new life, bust free, she can't wait to start being the manager for this new upcoming boy group. (a little bit expecting them to fawn over her, but that's just a fantasy) Prepared to do her best she meets and greets with.... Greco-Roman busts. Yes, the new boy band group, called Sekko Boys, is made up completely of Roman busts. 

I was drawn to this show not because of it's story, but because of it's characters. It's a boy band made up of stone Roman busts. And they aren't recreated in an anime-y way at all. Nope, it's the actual art. The busts, some who are modeled after Gods, even tell about what it was like to be a God and I just cannot.

What she expected.

I was drawn to the show by it's weird and seemingly interesting premise. However I was immediately turned off after the second episode. It was kind of boring, not to mention the boys were all sort of... weird. As interesting as it sounded, it was bland. The boys are average and any personality they do have is cut and copy. Miki is the unfortunate manager whom I like, but also don't really like at the same time. And the new idol girl that comes in later in the second episode is annoying already.

The music is extremely bland, the animation is sub-par at best, but the colors are bright at least giving it that. An okay show that was subpar in story, animation, and style is Uta no Prince Sama, but at least it's charm falls in it's songs. Or maybe that's just me. But the show was upbeat and always fun. With the singers/voice actors being decent at least, I enjoyed it a lot. (who am I kidding, I love Miyano Mamoru and Kousuke Toriumi's voices, KYA!) In this I can't really even say that I like the voice acting or the voices. Not to mention the ending sequence isn't even memorable in the slightest. (despite it being a boy band)

What she got.

There really wasn't anything to keep me watching and so, I abandoned the show. An eccentric idea that just didn't have enough behind it. It was an original anime series, (I believe) written by Michiko Yokote. It is complete and has 12 episodes. It just recently ended so maybe it'll end up having a lot of hype if ERASED ever calms down this season.

Probably not. Erased is going to be there here for awhile. Despite my less than positive feelings on this show, it's your choice if you wanna go try and watch it or not. I personally don't recommend it.

Anime Review: Boku Dake ga Inai Machi (ERASED)

Wow, it's been awhile since I've done an anime review. Then again, it's been awhile since I've watched an anime all the way through. Huh.

I'm sure that the majority of you have already heard of this show at least. Majority have probably already watched the series completely. Not to mention me having marathoned it as soon as I read the description. It was a good thing it was Friday.

Yes, I was one of those people that was watching the show as it came out. I started it a week before the final episode was to be released. It was great. People are already talking about it being one of the contenders (if not already the winner) of best anime 2016. However with the popularity rising for Iron Fortress, I feel like this will be a good year for anime.

Sorry if I jinxed it guys.

But alas, we are here to discuss the 2016 Winter anime, Erased. Official title, English and Japanese, Boku Dake ga Inai Machi, the Town Without Me.

Everyone and their sister has heard of it, and all of the famous anime reviewers have reviewed it.

The anime begins with cynical, 29 year old Satoru Fujinuma and his pizza delivery job. He's an aspiring manga artist and is really just trying to get by. As he is driving down the street we are introduced to his strange power. It allows him to go a few seconds back in time to stop a tragedy from occurring. Unfortunately it sends him back before the tragedy happens and he is forced to notice when, where and how it is going to occur. But its always close by, it's always only a few seconds, and it's always because something terrible is soon to happen if he can't stop it. Usually when he succeeds, something is taken from him in exchange. (Full Metal anyone?) For example, as he's driving down the road to deliver, he is suddenly realizing that he drove down the same road, twice. Realizing his power had taken affect, always at the sign of glowing, white butterfly, he notices a large truck. In it, the man fell asleep. He effectively turns the wheel in time to save a child from being hit and the truck is stopped, but not before he's hit full on in a collision. He survives with a minor concussion. His yokai mother (you'll find out why later) comes to visit him, along with his coworker Airi, whom he never really talked to. The next day, you find out about the murders that Satoru was involved in 18 years ago.... and it all progresses from there.

It's not even a full summary of the first episode because I don't want to completely spoil it. WOO! But I'll just say, he's similaur to Eren Jeager in one way. (snicker) I will mention one thing in order to be able to review this but SPOILER ALERT anyway. Later on he is sent back 18 years to a few weeks before the first kidnapping of his classmates.

Boku Dake is set up like a thriller mystery series, even though the killer is very evident. The process he goes through to save the abused and lonely little girl, Kayo Hinazuki, is really touching and always suspenseful. He's up against a time limit and there's no guarantee that it'll be safe after it passes, since after that, he has no idea what to do. Not to mention that he never was given any hint from when he started either.

It's a first person point of view, with an older him voicing the inner monologue. The voice acting is aamazing to the point where I just HAD to point it out. The animation style is pretty and the music is something that you would look up on its own.

In the production of it, it was a masterpiece. The animation was fluid and the art really helped shape the atmosphere of the show. Not to mention the widescreen, black sides cinematic vibe it had. Alongside the music, the production made it into a supremely immersive show that matched the rising sense of dread, curiosity and caution that came along with each new episode. (Especially since only 2 of the 12 episode series weren't cliff hangers. EVEN THE LAST EPISODE WAS ONE)

Me while watching this show sometimes...

The suspense that it left you hanging was destructive. Even though the killer was obvious, and the show never focused on really finding out the identity of the killer for the most part, it had an amazing sense of suspense and you could never feel bored watching it. Matched with the amazing production, the show was golden.

I personally like to leave the openings and endings separate from the OST soundtrack for the whole show, and the op and ed was just as good. I heard the song Re:Re by Asian Kung Fu Generation before it was made as the opening theme to the show, and it was a nice match. The opening sequence of the show was very well done, weaving in key plot changes that occurred in the show into it's opening sequence. Not to mention the one right before the last episode if I remember correctly where was gone from it completely. The ending song and sequence just as pretty.

The characters then. Just a quick shout out to yokai mom. She's the literal best thing in the world. Right up there with Hana from Ookami Kodomo in best anime moms ever. Hell, TV moms ever.

Now onto characters. These lovely batch of broken souls is too precious. I already mentioned the mom and the budding friendship that grows between Kana and Satoru is more than I could've ever asked for. The show makes the characters seem extremely real (at least for me) with the children acting like children (exempting that one genius child) All of the kids have their own motivations, even Satoru's little self as he is set between wanting to be a hero and not wanting to be left out of his friends. It's very interesting and just the slightest bit of a physchological thing too.

There's plenty more I could talk about, but I'll leave it at that for now. I entirely suggest you go watch this anime. It's amazing in so many ways and it's pluses out weigh it's minuses 10 to  2. Which is still really good.

Shounen Oujo AKA Mimic Royal Princess Hiatus OVER!!!

For the majority of you who read my blog (the few of you there are) you probably don't know what this manga is. And if you do, then I really hope you've read it and liked it! If not, well okay that's fine. For the rest of you who came from a random search, and by random I mean Google, then this is just me explaining my love for this series and my happiness at finally knowing the hiatus is at it's end. And re-reading the entirety of it as I continue to the next chapters. ^w^

Shounen Oujo or Mimic Royal Princess for you Americans who can't remeber that simple title name (I'm a little pissy about the name change for English) it's back. This amazing world, characters, ART, and sassiness, not to mention the holy cRAP DID ***** JUST DIE?!?!? moments that happen more than once in this manga series that is finally, finally, back where it belongs. In the update box and on my screen.

So for those who will look at the tags and immdediantly scrap this thing down to a trap manga that their straight ass can't be dealt with, think again! (although I am being overly dramatic and am just kidding around when I say this, I did read a comment that praised the series but had actually decided to stop reading it if it had any yaoi elements in it...) This series, although a genderbender, is not just to trap the boners and the minds of fanboys looking for a pretty little tsundere princess.

No. This, from the get go, goes into a unique kingdom that features an onslaught of political problems and social issues. And you know what that means? Summary time!

In a country where women rule supreme, there lives a poor, but happy boy named Albert. An excursion to the city turns dangerous when he and his friend are abducted by slave traders and later purchased by a noblewoman's servant. If this wasn't crazy enough, it turns out Albert looks exactly like the young noblewoman who purchased him. But she's not ordinary aristocrat. She's the princess! And he's to act as her double for today on wards?

Add in a few issues with the royal family, mommy issues, and a rising sense of responsibility for the young princess; the manga features many intakes on gender identity, biology of the female and what is expected of them, bearing of heirs, and of course, protection of the ultimately failing country.

Though that is the official summary of the series, if very quickly branches out from some simple little ploy direction that I'm sure some of you are already convinced that this series would be going towards. In fact, the plot changes rather drastically in less than 5 chapters (if I remember correctly) and it heats up fast. In reality, the princess wants to experience freedom before becoming an inevitable ruler of her country. Which for her means being strong, apathetic, cunning and smart. She also searches for the reason to protect the country she's been born to rule, considering she's only seen it from the palace windows.

Though I have only just recently come to realize the taboo-ness of the gender bender genre when it comes to boys turning into girls (aka, traps) this isn't just some moe blob that tries to make you question whether that's a boy or a girl and if you can ship it or not. No, its a very original idea and its well executed, pegging all of the realistic questions and making for quite a nice fantasy world and serious story that no one was really expecting from the title Shounen Oujo or the Boy Princess. 

The series went on hiatus after it's third volume back in 2013 and I was devastated when I found out. It just recently came back last year in 2015 full blast and I'm ready! In fact, once I'm done writing this, I'm going to go re-read the whole series and move into the new chapters that I've long been awaiting! The artist, Yukihiro Utako, did the character designs for the original Uta no Prince-Sama characters and is also the artist for the weirdly popular series, Makai Ouji or Devils and Realist. Yes, there are gay undertones in that, even if shounen ai or yaoi aren't in the tags. I mean. Free and basically every male sports anime in recent times. But unlike the two series that I just mentioned, females are very present in this series and are very relevant.

Yukihiro, despite being an extremely talented artist, did not write either Shounen Oujo or Makai Ouji or her own. The story author alongside her for Shounen Oujo is Musashino Zenko. And for Maki Ouji the author wasn't her at all. It was all done by Takadone Madoka.

To end this I will say that I completely recommend the series just in case you didn't already get that. Bye now! Gotta go read the updates!

Sports Anime Takeover 2k16

Sports anime.

A genre that is very widely loved and enjoyed right now. It's been around for awhile. Classic animes like Prince of Tennis, Slam Dunk and Hajime no Ippo are the ones that really defined the genre.

Then.

Now the fangirls have the modern classic that define the sports genre of anime today. Kuroko no Basket, Free! and Haikyuu. Although all three are still relatively new, they are well on there way of becoming icons of the past few years, if they aren't already. And now, with all three of these shows already having their second season (third for Kuroko) what awaits the fans for the future?

And onslaught of other sports anime with a large casts of mostly boys. Let's just go down the list of how many sports have been covered shall we? Heck, I won't even include tennis or boxing for the early ones. These are just the animes of the last few years. This also includes the upcoming shows.

These are the more anticipated and well known ones. I also know there are some soccor and baseball animes out there of recent years. They actually look pretty interesting....

One show up there, the fishing one, went widely unoticed despite being a pretty good show. Some might not consider it a sports anime either since it deals with fishing. That anime is Tsuritama by the way. I liked it a lot. The show was well animated, had bright colors and a cheerful array of characters and relationships between them. It was simply adorable.

Back on topic.

I created this because the sports genre is becoming widely populaur. And if you know one thing about these shows, then you probably know about its very, large, yaoi fanbase that goes along with each and everyone of these shows. Every. Single. One.

\Yes, the modern sports genre, althought known for it's very good action scenes featuring the sports, liveliness and lovely interactions between the cast of characters (usually on a team with each other) they are also known for it's extensive yaoi located not so deep in the fandom. Seriously, it's not hard to find at all. 

Although I tried to watch Kuroko no Basuke, and got through to the 8th episode or so, I don't think that they're really for me. I finished watching Tsuritama and loved it so I think I'll try to watch Haikyuu as well since it's prasied not only for being extreme yaoi bait, (coughFREEcough) but for also being a well written show.
But if anything else about this is true, it's that 2016 will be remebered for at least one thing, (other than ERASED) and that's sports anime. Look out for them, they're coming...if they aren't already here.

The Senpai Club - First Impressions

I've already watched the 3 episodes that are available right now, so I guess this can still count as a first impression because it's only 3 episodes in so far. And by God, are they great episodes.

Throurogly pissed off that I have been on YouTube for years now and haven't seen this show and clicked on it before. Because this is perfect. It's just amazing. This is like Ghost Stories, that being an official abridged series. Oh my gosh.

So anyway. First thing's first. I was reading the comments and everone was so super pissed because of their chins. Frankly, I think their chins are just. Perfect.

Amazing.

So a summary of this show first.

It starts off with a girl! She's a transfer student and it's her first day at a new highschool. Will she make friends? Oh! What about a cute boy?? A boyfriend?! Heheh. Then she runs into a senpai from her school. She meets friends. A hentai, an American-desu classmate, a reader, and a boy who is so obviously in love with the American-desu girl. While exploring her new school she runs into the senpai club. A club only for senpais dedicated to ignoring their kohais. The bad thing is, Hero-Senpai didn't know that she wasn't a senpai and couldn't be apart of the club! But... he has a crush on her?! OH NO! He can't notice his kouhai! What a dilema!

This is just. So amazingly cliche and petty it's beatiful. It has so many ridiculous jokes in it. Not to mention the incorrect trasnlations that if you've been a decent/avid anime watcher, then you will catch it and you will damn well appricate it. Hell, even if you haven't, you'll definetly see it. It's hard not to catch them. An example is when she wakes up late for school exclaiming "Kuso! Fakku!" but the translation says "Oh no, I'm late for shcool." I almost died. They do this in the opening to. Which is titled Light Chocolate Life Love. On purpose mind you. God I love this show.

So everyone knows Ouran right? Well remeber how in Ouran all Haruhi wants is for senpai to leave her alone. Well it's like that. A weird, hilarious deconstruction of the shoujo genre (i'm being generous here for the Senpai Club) but that's the best I can describe it at the time.

But seriously, the way they draw their chins sometimes, it could stab people man! It should be counted as a legal weaopon! 

Not to mention the episode where they switch back to the 80's version of the show. It's straight up just making fun and it's an amazing combination. Not to mention that it's a fan anime and it's pretty damn good for one too. Having full length original songs for their openings and endings, drawn pv's for them too, as well as top notch voice acting. I can't, it's just too funny. 

Another hilarious 'mistranslation'. Sub titles say "What's the president of America's name?" and America-chan says "Kore wa Obama's name?". I died. This was on a Christmas special and it was amazing. Just. Please. This show. 

If anything watch it for it's well drawn animation style (for it being fan made) and the absolute hilariousness of everything. It's poking fun at the shoujo genre and it's an amazing, very well executed work.

So here's the Christamas Special so you just have to watch it. If nothing at all. Just this.

Corpse Party: Tortured Souls - Episode 1&2 Reaction

Well. I thought the characters in American horror movies were bad. But no, Corpse Party takes the cake for oblivious, idiotic main characters who have literally no common sense. I mean shiiiiiit.

But that's a point that I'll make a little later. And trust me, I will definetly make this point again later. I'll be damned if I don't... Sachiko charm kind of damned. Hah. Hah. Hah.

I began watching Corpse Party last night instead of doing my homework. 0w0. (I'm an amazing role model for no one in particular) I wathced Missing Footage first not knowing what it was, but I guess it was for the best. Like it's already said, I continued through to watch the first 2 episodes of the OVA series. Though it's full of gore and guts and junk, it's not full of good characters.

So far the death count is 3. The first girl who died was just, wow. How stupid can you get? She was being hanged and her friend was sitting there wondering what the heck she was supposed to do. Should I pull on her?? Yeah I should pull on her. Oh crap it didn't work! What?!?! How's that?? I mean she could've done a number of things like lift her up, prop her up in her thighs, or her shoulders.

*Sigh*

Anyway, the animation and drawing style isn't bad. It's pretty decent or average for me right now. The gore level is through the roof and it's really impressive. Though I will say that if it was live action I probably wouldn't be able to watch as easily. The music is kind of....not very fitting. I don't really like it. It' s just meh. The background music is also pretty forgetable.

But horror shows just need a good story right?

Mmmmm. Though the show does in fact have me intrigued, it's also an adaptation from a game. A game that I really want to play because when you trasnlate games into even full length anime, it loses some of the suspense, build up and even some of the major plot elements. It's already evident in episode 2 (even though it's only 4 episodes) when they quickly jump from being scared to solving the case of the riddle by that of magic. In the first episode, there was nohting lying around or anything for them to try and figure out what was going on. Although in the second, it seemed like everyone and their teacher (lol) knew the story.

Also can we talk about how she found a bag with the kid's NAME ON IT and when she picked it after she said, mind you, do you think this belonged to him? So when the little ghost boy shows up, pointing at her, saying "give it back" her and the guy stand there not knowing WHAT THE FUCK was going on? WHAT DOES HE WANT? HUH? I DON'T UNDERSTAND? NO COMPRENDE!

Are you fucking kidding me? Frankly the only one I've seen that even looked to have a little common sense was the little girl! She was like, better find my brother. Oh shit, that guy looks dangerous, let me run and hide. Oh crap, he killed someone, he's probably not safe to be around, I should go. Thank you sweet little girl. Never go with a pretador to a second location. Good job. Her onii-chan on the other hand, let this weirdo little random girl who came out of nowehre go with his little sister in the courtyard to go to the bathroom when it's been STATED and they've SEEN ghosts that are ANGRY floating around. And to make it worse, he's just like 'I'm going to go wait inside like a DILWEED' SCREAM if you need anything.

Good lord are the stupidest horror show protaganists I've ever seen. My other issue was, I'm not sure if this is true or not but I think it is? It's when they find out that they just have to find the tongues and give it to the kdis. Right after they found the first tongue theys said that they already found 2 more directly after? 1) it was clear and 2) it was really rushed. They didn't even get a montage.

Either way, I'm going to finish it, most likely today. If you like gore and horror I say you could probably enjoy to watch it, but if not and you're just looking for a good plot line.

Imma just... Leave this as a warning.

Webtoon Reveiw: Story of Someone we Know & Salty Studio

Having already talked about Cheese in the Trap more than once now, and also mentioned Webtoons by themself too, I will again, write about a Webtoon! And it's a full on complete review!

"Story of Someone We Know"

Omyo is a featured artist on webtoon and she/he (but assuming she) had written and completed two series that I know of so far. Her more well known one, or really just more popular than the other one, is Story of Someone we Know. The other one that I read and really liked was Salty Stuido. I've read them both awhile ago and meant to write a review about both of them far earlier on, but I'm doing it now.

I am, in fact, going to review them together. One because they were made by the same artist and two because they are the same genre. Three is because the two stories have very similaur messages and themes which make them very similaur in a lot of other aspects of too. I'll include and description about the both of them though, seperately.

Okay, first, Story of Someone we Know. Summer is happily in love; Mira is a beautiful and succesfull woman who doesn't have a boyfriend; Jung-Ah lives with her boyfriend and they've been together for 5 years. These 25 year old girls are very close. This is the story of their common everyday lives.

Here is the Salty Stuido summary. Togeun used to work for his father's company without any passion, so he quits his job and moves out from his parents' house in order to follow his dream ind rawing. At the homecoming party (highschool reunion), Togeun begs Sonagi, a girl who he knew in highschool, a great illustrator, to teach him how to draw.

They don't sound similaur in the summary but they kind of are. The genre of the stories, if you haven't guess, is the romance genre. But oh my gosh! What's this? They aren't set highschool? Whaaat?? Surprise, surprise, they're romance stories from East Asia, are super cute, and are not set in highschool. Or even college. These people are young adults and they are on their own. They have jobs and get shit done according to their own agendas relying solely on themselves...well sort of. Okay not really, but they are young adults past college and trying to get their lives to together.

"Story of Someone we Know"

I'm really referring to Story of Someone we Know right now. Although in Salty Studio, they aren't in highschool or college other than two of the side characters, none of them really have their lives together. That's the thing about Salty Studio. They have no clue what to do. That's one of the major difference between the two webtoons.

But back to The Story of Someone we Know.

And yet they still are relatable. That's the first thing to praise. It's not in highschool and is still an amazing protrayal of romance. Weirdly realistic, but that also means it's sad. The way that this particular webcomic progresses is it goes through each girl's story about their romantic life. Throughout the story of all of the girls, they each at one point, have the opposite of what they started off with. How they react to this is what makes it a real story. Like Nana, anyone whose been in a relationship can probably relate to one of these girls. I've never been in a relationship and I personally really loved it.

In Salty Studio, unlike in Story of Someone we Know,  it focuses on the romantic elationship between only two of the characters. A bit more drama and dramatics in this one but not too much. What is also different about this one is that it doesn't always focus on the romance aspect of this webtoon. All the characters have hardships that they have and that are affecting them that just want to let out.

Other aspects include the teenage girl who fell in love with her friend. The over succesful kid who doesn't actually know what to do after highschool. The man who is judged by his looks and then only to be turned away when he fails their expectations. And of course the feelings of the main two, that aren't just romantically as the boy deals with failing his dreams and the girl deals with lying to someone she loves.

See. Dramatics! But also really relatable. One of the problems most people had at one point or another, making it oh so keep going reading. A major focal point in the series is finding yourself and trying to get on you're feet. Not the lame, "I must find myself in the wild" but the, I wasn't born with an amazing talent. My future hasn't been paved already. I don't have a plan. Or even, I had a plan, but it didn't work. THE FUCK AM I SUPPOSED TO DO NOW?! Extremely relatable since every young person has been here at some point thinking things like, I don't know what I want. Or, I don't know how to get it. Or even, I am unable to get it, because I can't get in. It's bittersweet and it's full of sad things and failures that everyone has to go through and make it through because life doesn't stop.

Okay, okay. Art stuff now.

The art is ridiculously colorful. Damn, is it bright. Everything has color, except their skin. Which is all white. I'm not really sure why, or if it's supposed to represent some kind of thing, but it strangely works for it. The drawing style is really cartoonish and childish, which is the complete opposite of the story it's trying to tell. Or maybe it just goes to show that evolution from innocenct feelings to a more aware person. But then agian, the art never really changes. One unique thing it does though is change the art style from something simple and a sketchy (in a good way) from a professionally done picture at the end of every chapter. This happens in both series. Another great thing about the art is that the speech bubbles are colored, making it easy to follow along with conversations.

Neither are extremely long. Both are summed up in about 50 chapters or less. I highly reccomend it for romancy stuff. (I should probably branch out more....) But anyway, read them!

RWBY Volume 3 Episode 11: (Heroes and Monsters) Rant

I love RWBY.
I mean I love, love RWBY. I think it's an awesome web series and is pretty damn good for being only a web seires. It could even hold it's own as a real anime, show, animoo, whatever the fuck you want to call it.

I mean it could! Pupa is literally max 7 minutes per episodes!

I haven't posted about RWBY since the first time I actually just said, 'hey look at this thing, RWBY" But I think I might change that since I really don't have many people to talk to about RWBY and right now, all I want to do. Is talk about RWBY.

First thing, I actually liked this episode a lot. Tons of action, finally getting to see Velvet's weopen, I find myself being attracted to cyborg guys name Core, seeing Qrow's schyte which was fucking awesome, finally getting to see Velve'ts weapon, tons of action and fighting and heartbreak, and oh the irnoy of Roman. Hah, haha, ha. Not tastefully done, but I still appricate it. I especially love puns. I know, whatever, but that was definetly a pun.

The one thing that I need to rant about though, even if nothing else was bad, but this one. Thing.

ADAM.

NO. Just. NO. GOD NO.

First of all, last episode had him showing up dramatically, and all you're expected is a dramatic 'Hello again Blake,' or 'I see you've been holding up, despite you're betrayal.' or FUCKING ANYTHING, but of course he doesn't say any of this. He says, "Hello, my darling." Super fucking awkardly might I add. And I was like, hah, LOL, it's probably just a joke.

It WASN'T. A JOKE.

He straight up is obsessed with Blake in a creepy ass kind of way. And I'm pretty sure Adam is older than Blake too? But not the point. The whole, 'You and me, you were my love.' And oh gosh, the general sort of feeling that she belonged to him. Goodness no! She was in this as a kid! And even if they were in a relationship before, he made it sound like he was her overlord! It's like Tris and Four, but if Four wasn't adorable and let Tris lead the way. It's like Four acted his age and treated her like a recruit but still romantically attracted to her. Or, an even better example. Arobynn Hamel and Celeana Sardothien from Throne of Glass. Just. NO! GOD it was just wrong!

Of course, somebody is going to try and tell me otherwise but I'll be DAMNED if that what I thought was implied wasn't even hinted at in the dialouge between Adam and Blake. Everyone says he's going to get a redemption arc. Or maybe he's changed and only acting like because of his semblance or some other theories. Nah. Nuh-uh. Throw logic as much as you want, no matter what, he is DEAD TO ME. Just waiting for Yang to come back with a robot arm and beat the living shit out of Adam. Beauty and the Beast be damned.

I will not complain about it being bad writing. No, in fact it's a pretty interesting twist for them to have been such a... weird, creepy, fucked up item. But that doesn't stop me from hating him and despising their relationship. Doesn't mean it doesn't make for a good story.

I mean of all the things I thought Adam was going to be. Even after the conversation with (Crimson girl), I did not think he would be that. And if someone wants to make the claim that he only changed because of him being forced to fight against the humans, Blake wasn't surprised by what he was saying! She was more surprised by him being there than anything else!

Of all the things I thought Adam was going to be. This. Wasn't. it.

Also another thing. How dare you kill off Roman in such a cliche and terrible manner! We SHIPPED HIM WITH NEO~! (and no guys, she's not Ruby's age, she is in fact, not a teenager at all) So there's that. Not to mention Jaun and his one fucking job.

One job Jaune. Watch. The door. And what did you do? NOT FUCKING THAT! At the very least you would've been able to shout a warning to Ozpin or something so that Amber wouldn't have had to die or HELL maybe she would've and ya'll would've just been better prepared without her element of surpsie. The moral of the story. Watch the door.

But a plus of the episode, Velvet is a bunny badass! Who knew?! Her camera actually means shit and she has the coolest weapon since duel pistol knuchucks that turns into a staff! Sweet jeebus go Velvet. Ray of sunshine in a shitty ass life sucks episode.

What I expected from Volume 3.

What I got from Volume 3.
