The Girl Who Leapt Through Time Review

It was good. It was really good. Not that the idea was original but the way that they went with it was. It follows a teenager in high school as she finds that she has the power to time travel. It follows her and realizing that changing things does have it's way on everything around you. It's really good and just sligthly takes on the guise of a love story. I like it and it has a really good feel to it. Kind of like the feeling of Anohana where she doesn't want the days to end and then it takes an abrupt turn for the worse. There she decides to change it with time travel not paying attention to how it can affect the things around her. Its really good.

SYNOPSIS TIME!!

A girl Makoto gets up one day, late may I say, and she just has a pretty bad day the entire time. She's usually relatively lucky. Just not today. She comes in late and on a pop quiz. She completely flunks that. Then she messes up and starts a fire in home ed, as well as is on classroom duty. While she's on classroom duty she thinks someone is the in the science room only to find a strange device there....and she falls. She has a creepy vision and then she is on her way home after going to the park with her two friends, Chiaki and Kousuke (both guys). On her way home she's riding down at top speed and at that time a train is coming. She tries to stop but her brakes are broken. She can't stop because she's going to fast. She flies out in front of the train until she rolls into her house. She eats some pudding and then goes to tell her witch aunt. When her witch aunt tells her that it's just a phase most girls go through, she also mentions that if she can control it that it will be good. Eventually, Makoto figures out how to do that. She relives her days over, and over, as if it was summer break. It was almost summer break and she wanted the days to go on forever, just with her, Kousuke, and Chiaki. When she gets tired she decides to just go on. That's when one of her friends, Chiaki, asks her out. Again. And again. And again. BUT then Chiaki, on an alternate try to keep him away from her and trying to avoid him, he ends up going out with one of Makoto's other friends. She doesn't do anything but she doesn't like it. She also notices a number on her arm that is decreasing every time she time travels. The rest of the time she spends it trying to get her other friend a girlfriend. When she does succeed at this, he texts her that he is going to use her bike. By the time she gets to the train passing she thinks that he had missed it. While walking back Chiaki calls and asks her if she's time leaping. She panics and lets the number drop to 0. When Chiaki calls, she ignores him. Then she sees Kousuke and his girlfriend riding past her. She freaks. She tries to tell him to stop, slow down, anything and in her frantic chase to catch him she trips and injures herself. She watches as Kousuke goes down with the train coming and killing him. Right before this happens though she screams for it to stop. And it does. Her injuries are gone and she sees Chiaki holding her bike. He explains that he's from the future, lost his time travel recharging device, that she had found it, and that he could no longer go back to his time. And the fact that he told her all this means that when he restarts the time, because when he stopped it he froze everything but them, he will disappear because that was what happened. Anyone who told a person from the past about time travel will instantly disappear. He had only come to see a painting that was painted during a time of famine, war, and distress. It was burned in the future but Chiaki had come to her time so he could see it. They never said but I guess it's because he wanted to relate to it and look at it because his own time wasn't happy. When he restarted time Makoto had a break down trying to find him. People made all sorts of rumors about why he had to leave and she started crying. When she got back home she looked and saw that the number on her arm wasn't 0...it was 1. Chiaki went back in time to the point where she hadn't used that yet. In a frenzy she went back to the day where it all started. She told Chiaki what she had learned. When they were walking home together he confirmed everything and told her to not be stupid. Makoto pushed him and said if he had anything else to tell her. He didn't and walked away. Makoto knew he would be leaving her time. She started to cry but Chiaki came back and whispered to her this. "I'll be waiting....in the future." rubbed her hair as she replied with this. "Yeah. I'll run there." and he disappeared.

DUH DUH!! Oh my gosh I absolutely HATED the ending!! They knew PERFECTLY WELL that they would never see each other again....it was really sad. And kind of sweet and cute. YAY!! Okay that's it BYE!

  1. i thought that the ending was pretty jacked-up, too, but it was logical. the one thing that bugs me is that Chiaki says that he'll be waiting for Makoto in the future, but exactly how far IS he in the future? if he's 100 years ahead, Makoto will either be dead or really, REALLY old. so how can a relationship like that work? JACKED.
