Saekano: First Impression

So I saw this show on a overview of the year's anime list and stuff...Gigguk?? I'm pretty sure?? Yeah that's it. If anyone was paying attention or reading this and not skipping it and is really into anime reviewers then I totally recommend watching some of his videos. Along with Glass Reflection and some other lady who I can't think of right now.

My Deemed 'Best Girl' is in the
background with the guy.
Anyway, so what drew me to this series originally, especially considering how much I like harems is fairly Rosario+Vampire, no anime. I mean, of course there are some other ones that I liked to but the ecchi was always limited or it had some type of other addition to it. Like Highschool of the Dead for the something else added to it or Nyan Koi for lack of ecchi.
limited to horrible reverse harems and

Saekano is an anime about a famous otaku in his highschool who loves dating sims and animes, light novels and such. He somehow has a connection to a cut-out copy cliche tsundere pigtail girl who is super smart, gorgeous and half European. The other girl is her exact opposite. Arrogant and smart with a sly sort of style. Long black hair and tights, she's the top of everything she does without trying. They happen to be R-rated doujinshi artists (tsundere) and light novel series writers (Japanese beauty) and super famous at that.

The otaku boy one day sees a pretty girl in a frilly dress standing at the top of a hill. Her white beret flies off her head, into the wind only to be caught by him. He's inspired to make a game about this girl. The next day he recruits the walking cliches and the girl he saw. But it turns out, she's the plainest girl he's every seen. Fades into the background, brown hair cute into a bob, average height, grades, family. She's, in our standards, completely normal and not strange at all. But to him, where everyone around him is a walking cliche, she's the odd one out.

And so, his journey to turn her into the best dating sim protagonist begins.
They know.
So much 4th wall breakage.
All of it.
An interesting twist to the harem genre. The main girl is the most plain and normal. She acts and reacts like a normal person. For example when she was invited to stay late at his house to play a game, she said, 'sure, I'll let my mom now'. No blushes, no lying, a straight up answer. He of course, reacts to the girls normally as well. The only difference is that he loves otaku things knows exactly how a cliche girl should react in certain situations.
The cousin used to hang out with in summer, that extra girl, the tsundere, the cold but perfect aloof sarcastic beauty, the childhood neiborhood girl gone so adorably right

It's an interesting thing going on, and though it's slightly episodic with an only lingering plot line to pull it together, making it dull at times, I want to continue just to see where it goes. It's, in itself, a classic slice of life. It's slow going so far and I had to stop from the lack of interest. They always seem to end the episodes on cliffhangers only to start a new aspect of the game or show and not mention the previous episode. I'm currently on episode 4???

Anyway, I think it has an interesting premise but I don't think that it'll speed up anytime soon. :'/
